Chris and I rested from our labors on Labor Day weekend and headed up to a house at Lake Tahoe with some friends. We had beautiful weather, great company, awesome food, and fun activities. It was the perfect getaway! We started the first day off with a brisk run and a little over 2 miles we were dying! We forgot what it was like to run at 6200 feet. Sea level has been good to us! We walked the rest of the way and did some exploring. We met a really nice couple on one of the beaches that told us all about the lake. It was formed by glaciers and still has one there at the deepest parts. The lake is amazingly deep. Over a mile in some places. The water was the prettiest blue I have ever seen. The pictures don't do it justice!
We decided as a group to take in 18 holes of golf. We played 9 the first day and were tired so we played the last 9 the following day. It was a lot of fun! My game?? Well...it was decent at times.
Still working on the Tiger stance.
The scenery was great and there was lots of fresh mountain air. I loved it! It was also really fun to chase these geese with the golf cart. I know....not quite proper golf course behavior but no one was looking right?
We took turns driving the cart. I love those things!
The men of the group. We were all pretty even as far as talent goes so the scores were close.
The group of dental golfers (except for two of us). We'll do this every Friday after we graduate right? Well....maybe in a few years.
We took the boat out on the lake. The house was right on one of the canals that leads into the lake.
The Adams family (snap snap). How fitting. We are dressed in black. We should add some color to our swimwear!
Out on the lake. This is Emerald Bay. You really can't tell the color of the water from the picture. It was this beautiful greenish blue. Darren did some wakeboarding but you have to wear a wetsuit because the water is FREEZING! I was very tempted to get out there and board a little but the water was just too cold.
I didn't know they had life jackets for dogs. Funny....why isn't the owner wearing one?
We did a brief hike up to a waterfall but it was only a trickle because it's summer. Apparently in Spring it's raging waters.
After a day of being on the water and golfing we had to have a great meal. Darren is an AMAZING chef and he quickly whipped up some fresh caught tuna, Rachel made a great salad, potatoes, a grilled pineapple salsa for the tuna, and some wonderful appetizers provided by Craig and Jenna. We provided dessert. Some of my famous wicked good cookies. Hmm...
Darren really needs to start his own resturant. He can make a gourmet meal out of anything! After dinner there was a fantastic fireworks show that we watched on the lake. It featured some of the latest and greatest new fireworks that are out on the market. They had all kinds of shapes patterns and colors. I can't wait until this 4th of July!
